Bring on 2020
Welcome to another year of Strata Today.
We are proud to have been keeping our clients and the industry informed with this newsletter for 7 years and thank our contributors, partners and Nathan Kelly who have made this possible. I would also like to personally thank Rebecca Thomson one of our senior certified strata community managers at Hartley’s Body Corporate Management who has been tireless in keeping the content relevant and informative whilst successfully managing one of our largest portfolios.
It is with mixed emotions that we extend our best wishes and thanks to Commissioner Chris Irons who, as of the 17 th January 2020, has retired from the role of Commissioner for Body Corporate and Community Management. Chris has been in the role for the past 5 years and has contributed a great deal to the Strata Industry including this newsletter. We have had a wonderful relationship during his tenure and we hope he is equally successful in his new role. We also extend our congratulations to Ms Jane Wilson who has stepped in as Acting Commissioner from the 20 th January while the recruitment process for a new Commissioner is finalised. We look forward to working with Ms Wilson and we will announce who the new Commissioner will be in due course.
As I am sure all of you feel, our hearts and thoughts go out to all of the families that have been affected by the catastrophic bush fires that have ravaged all over Australia. It has been an absolutely devastating end to 2019 and start to 2020, however it has been amazing to see how everyone has banded together in donating not only money to assist with the recovery from the bush fires, but also clothing, food, water etc and is a true testament to the fighting Australian spirit. Our thanks also extends to our international colleagues in particular the CAI in America for their genuine heartfelt support.
We are looking forward to an exciting year in the Strata Industry with the release of the final versions of the new Regulation Modules of which we will ensure we cover the detailed changes in this article.
